Over 500 Local Youth Get Support at Summer Jobs+ Fair

The fourth annual Summer Jobs+ Youth Resource Fair was a HUGE success! More than 500 local youth came to experience this years event at Moscone Center, which provided a one-stop-shop for learning about the best jobs and internships happening in San Francisco this summer. This enormous event is possible only with the support of Mayor Ed Lee and many dedicated community organizations, employers and volunteers.

Attendees had the opportunity to participate in workshops on topics like job hunting and resume writing, and they also took part in mock interviews to help boost their confidence and speaking skills. Some well-prepared youth even had the chance to do real job interviews on the spot! Twelve different companies conducted more than 300 real job interviews at the fair, and over 100 youth left the event with a job offer! Shout-out to Starbucks for hiring the greatest number of job fair attendees!

Starbucks and United Way celebrate success Mock job interview sessions with local youth

One young woman, Maljanae Williams left the fair feeling extremely confident after being told by Starbucks and Specialty’s that she should come in for second interviews. “This was the highlight of my week! I’m 21 years young and I’m looking forward to brightening up my future. Thank you for all the creative things this program is doing for independent determined youth like myself,” she said.
