3 Interview Tips to Help You Get the Job!

TIP 1: PRACTICE WITH A MOCK-INTERVIEW

There are definitely some questions that you are almost guaranteed to hear during your interview. Try to have some pre-made answers for the timeless interview questions like, 'Tell me a little about yourself' or 'What is your greatest strength/weakness, 'Why should we hire you . If you know the industry of the company or organization you are interviewing with, research questions that are typical for your specific industry, and make sure to know what skills these industries value. For any type of interview, you should practice general interview questions. Also don’t forget to dress the part! Make sure you wear work appropriate clothing.

TIP 2: RESEARCH, RESEARCH, RESEARCH

No matter who is interviewing you, make sure that you know as much about that company or organization as possible! You want to know who this company is what they do and why are they doing their work. Thankfully, you have Google to help you out. Just try to find out anything that you can about the company so that you can ask an intelligent question about the company during your interview. Being prepared for an interview is the best way to impress any employer.

TIP 3: FOLLOW-UP AND SAY THANK YOU

As you interview is coming to a close remember to ask something like 'when are you looking to fill this position' or “what are the next steps for this interview process?”. This will help you know when you can expect to hear back from them. Make sure to get the e-mail address of the person who interviewed you before you leave.

Even though the interview is over your work isn’t done yet. Send them an e-mail right away, either that day or that afternoon. This is your chance to remind them why you are the best candidate for the job.

Hello [insert name],

Thank you for taking the time to meet with me. I appreciated having the opportunity to learn more about [insert company or organization here]. You mentioned during my interview that you were looking for ___ and I am confident that my experience ___ makes me the perfect candidate for the position. I look forward to hearing from you. Once again, thank you for your time.

Best,

Try your best to keep this message short and sweet, while still saying what your skills and accomplishments are to reinforce why you are the best candidate for the job. Be sure to follow up! It really does make a huge difference.
