RSVP for our Youth Resource Fair!

If you are a San Francisco youth aged 16-24, you can sign up for our upcoming Youth Resource Fair on Saturday, April 11, 2015. Not only will we help get you more job-ready, practice interviewing and review your resume, but you could interview with top employers like Starbucks, Target, Levi's and more! How do I sign up?

When & where is the event?

April 11th from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm

What do I do the day of the Youth Resource Fair?

  • Go to Moscone Center South on April 11th. Make sure to arrive at the time you select during registration.
  • Dress to impress. Also bring your resume and interview skills.

Can I bring a friend?

Yes, but make sure they are qualified and plan to participate in the day, too. Tell them to:
1. Make sure they Register in advance

2. Share this information with them so they know what to wear, bring and do!

What can I do to get ready?

After you sign up for an event time, visit sfyouthjobs.org to connect with a Doorway organization and get ready. Our Doorways can help you brush up your resume and practice interviewing before the event.

How do I dress for the Youth Resource Fair?

Dress like you are going to a job interview.
Do wear: slacks, dress, low and comfortable heels or flats, tie, collared or button-down shirt, etc.
Don't wear: baggy pants, shorts, sunglasses, baseball cap, flip-flops, low-cut or midriff blouse, heels higher than 3″, sweatshirt or T-shirt with slogans or brands, etc.

What should I bring?

Bring your resume ' on paper and electronically too (email it to yourself or bring it on a flash drive). It will be your ticket to the best activities of the day.

What will I learn at the fair?

Workshops will include Dress to Impress, Interview Coaching, Communications skills, and others.

How can I get help with my resume before the fair?

Get assistance in our resume lab. Meet with community agencies who will have programs to help you get work ready. Finally, get feedback from employers who will help you figure out what you need to do to be an attractive candidate for their company.

Will I get to interview for jobs?

We will offer job interviews at the event. To claim your interview spot, visit one of the Doorway organizations listed at sfyouthjobs.org/resources/doorways-2/. You can also create a profile in our online job search system, giving you access to the all the jobs available in the Summer Jobs + program.

Will I get to meet with employers?

Yes. Interviews with employers will last about 15 minutes each. There will also be practice interviews offered at the event.

How long should I be there?

The whole experience of workshops and meeting with employers will take 1.5 to 2.5 hours. Make sure to arrive for the time on your ticket!

What about criminal records and drug tests?

We have great community agencies on hand that can work with youth with records. Many employers are willing to give youth a chance if they can show they are responsible and willing to work. Many ' but not all ' employers demand drug tests when you are hired. Please note that many drugs, including marijuana, can be tested in your system for 30 days.
